Tuesday, April 14, the program of the prestigious documentary film festival Hot Docs, which takes place in Toronto, was announced and two Estonian films are included in the lineup. "A Loss of Something Ever Felt“ by Carlos E. Lesmes Lopez and "Immortal“ by Ksenija Okhapkina from the program titled The Changing Face of Europe were chosen for the festival's World Showcase section.

A special committee led by Estonian Film Institute (EFI) has voted for submitting a national epic Truth and Justice, adapted and directed by Tanel Toom, as the candidate for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. The 54th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), held from June 28th through July 6th, had two wins in store for Estonian films: with the world premiere at KVIFF, the documentary feature Immortal by Ksenija Okhapkina won the Grand Prix for the best documentary, and feature film Scandinavian Silence by Martti Helde won Europa Cinemas Label prize.
